The Worlds of Disney
The Worlds of Disney
Life’s special moments are worth celebrating. What will you celebrate? Where will you celebrate it?
Those words open the way to the magical destinations that are collectively known as the Disney Parks. Those destinations include Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, the Disney Cruise Line, Disney’s Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney Resort. Within these magical destinations are attractions just as well known as the destination itself. For example, in Disney World there is Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Epcot (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow), Disney Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But, it doesn’t end there. If you are a group you can take advantage of Disney Meetings and Conventions, Disney Weddings, Disney Golf, Disney Youth Groups, Disney Sports or Disney Magical Gatherings. All of this, and more, created from the mind of Walter Elias Disney.
Each of the Disney destinations is unique. Some, such as Disney Cruise Line and Disney’s Vacation Club are not destinations in and of themselves but means to several other destinations. A Disney cruise aboard one of their fun filled cruise ships might land you in Castaway Cay (Disney’s own port of call), or in Nassau, or St. Maarten, St. Thomas/St. John, Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, St. Croix or Tortola, each one unique, exotic and memorable.
The Disney Vacation Club is more like a timeshare with over 500 of the most desirable get-away destinations one could imagine. A sampling of the offerings made to the club members include: Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort.
Adventures by Disney is a guided family vacation to 22 diverse worldwide destinations from majestic Mt. McKinley in Alaska to the depths of the Grand Canyon. These guided vacations are typically 7 to 10 days long, though a safari to South Africa will take you away for 12 days and a romp through China will take 13 days. You could explore the cities, beaches and outback of Australia for 10 days or enjoy a leisurely 9 day holiday examining the antiquities of Machu Picchu and discovering the vibrant cultures that make Peru so special. You could spend 7 days in Costa Rica or 10 days in Ecuador and the Galapagos Island with its unique collection of creatures. If you like Europe, there are several 7 to 10 day packages to places like Provence and Paris. There is a 9 day Alpine vacation for those that would like to gaze upon the majesty of the Matterhorn or the serenity of Lake Lucerne. An 8 day vacation in Spain exploring fairy tale castles from Barcelona to Seville or enjoying an artful display of flamenco dancing might be just what the doctor ordered. An 8 or 9 day jaunt through Italy or 8 days in Ireland or 7 days in England could also be on your agenda as could 8 days in the Czech Republic and Austria. Each and every one of these is truly an adventure that you will remember for the rest of your life and they are all Disney.
But when most people think of Disney Destinations they think of Disneyland, especially if they live West of the Rockies, or Disney World near Orlando, Florida if they live East of the Rockies. The two are markedly different. Disneyland – Disney’s original theme park known as “the happiest place on earth” – is a one day adventure, all-be-it a very full day. Disney World, on the other hand is a week-long holiday excursion and a week may not be enough time to see and do all that there is to see and do. Disneyland is, by comparison, small and compact. Disney world is expansive, seemingly never ending. Disneyland opened its 85 acre site in 1955 at a cost of $17 million. Nine years later Disney bought 43 square miles of virgin land — twice the size of Manhattan Island — in the center of the state of Florida where Walt Disney World opened to the public in October, 1971.

Whichever of life’s special moments you might be celebrating, Disney has a special destination that is just right for you.
